Issues like child labor, war, and access to water and education, drown out voices across the world. Everyone deserves the chance to live the life they choose—not one chosen for them by poverty, illiteracy or happenstance. On June 1st students are encouraged to take a vow of silence for a day to better understand what it’s like to have your voice go unheard. Pledge sheets have been sent home and we would greatly appreciate it if pledges and donations were collected. GHMS’ money will support a small village in Tanzania named Oldonyowas. This money will go towards the 5 pillars of WE: education, food security and agriculture, clean water and sanitation, health and alternative income and livelihood (opportunity.) This money will help break the cycle of poverty and could mean the difference between labor or education. A voice is something we take so for granted and the YCI at GHMS are asking you to open your hearts to what is around us and goes unheard daily. We hope to raise awareness and understanding and make all GHMS students better global citizens. If you could support them financially or morally your efforts are greatly appreciated! In order to raise more funds for Oldonyowas, Tanzania we will be having a bake sale June 2nd. Our school has the recipe for a brighter future! If you able to bake anything to sell that would be greatly appreciated! Also, if your making certain foods for dietary restrictions (gluten free, dairy free, nut free etc.) please specify so we know who to sell it to first. As well as if your recipe includes anything (like nuts) that could be a possible allergen please say so as well so we know not to give it to anyone with that allergy. Thank you for all you support!
